Guantanamo Bay, Cuba

These 8 photos are from a period in late 2002 and early 2003 where I was temporary duty to the Naval Station at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.  These photos of some of the views of the area were taken during the week between Christmas and New Year's.  Prior to my leaving Cuba, I ran my film rolls through the base security office, and was given approval for posting these 8 photos on my website.

A sign for "Racer Run", one of the many bike/hike trails on the base.
Looking out over the golf course from the Ridgeline Trail.  About a mile beyond the ridge in the background is the Caribbean Sea.

Two views of the inland parts of the Bay.  Taken from the Ridgeline Trail.
Yes, even though Guantanamo Bay is in the tropics, it's dry enough to support cactus.
Junction of Ridgeline Trail and Lizard Loop.  A couple of the other names used for area trails include Tarantula Trail and Pelican Pass.
Looking west along the Ridgeline Trail back towards the main part of the base.
Yes, that is really a Lizard Crossing sign.
