Except for a section from east of Fayette to near Spruce Pine, AL 13 is the hidden state designation for US 43 through Alabama. The southern terminus was recently truncated to a new location, located at the connector of U.S. 43/Telegraph Road with U.S. 90/Truck U.S. 98/Bay Bridge Road.
