U.S. Highway 90 Rigolets Bridge in Louisiana
Starting in mid-2005, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD) began a project to replace the old 1930s-era "Rigolets Bridge" on US 90 with a new high-rise fixed span. The new bridge replaces an old, narrow (~20ft wide) swing-span bridge with a modern 2-lane fixed structure with full shoulders. This first set of photos shows westbound US 90 through the newly-completed project (bridge opened in mid-January 2008), which also included a realignment of the US 90/LA 433 junction (from a 3-way "Y" to a standard 4-way intersection) and left turn lanes on US 90 at both LA 433 and local streets on the southwest end of the bridge.
These photos are shown in the order they were taken, while traveling along westbound US 90. All photos were taken by the webmaster on February 17, 2008.
