Meridian South Bypass
Background:
The "Meridian South Bypass" is an idea whose background lies in two earlier proposals for a southern bypass of Meridian, MS. The first was considered as a southern routing of I-59, instead of its current route through the city. The second proposal briefly surfaced during planning for the southern part of the US 45 bypass. More recently, there have been ideas for a "south bypass" that have been shown in the Meridian Star newspaper. My fictional I-259 basically follows a bit of all, utilizing the underused southern part of the US 45 bypass, plus I've added a connection back to I-20, since the bulk of the "through" traffic through Meridian is following I-20.
