Southwest Metro

This page covers I-494 from MN 5 WEST/US 212 in Eden Prairie to I-394/US 12 in Minnetonka.  Total length of this section is approximately 7.6 miles.

Description

This is another older section of the I-494/694 beltway.  This section is interesting in that it only has 2 of what I'd call "local access interchanges", and one of those (at Valley View Rd) is only a half-interchange.  Nevertheless, this stretch sees considerable traffic, too much for a 4-lane section.  Because of this, a project to reconstruct and widen this segment of I-494 to 6 lanes was advanced as part of the Governor's bonding program back in 2003.  This project was completed in 2006.
