Picayune, MS Photos

The following photos were taken by me on September 17, 2005, just under 3 weeks after Katrina hit and the first Saturday that I was back in the area.  Somewhat to my surprise, the damage was not quite as bad as I expected it to be, given that the eye passed just east of town.  A lot of debris had already been cleaned up by the time I got back, though there are still debris piles in some parts of town even now in early October.  The following photos are displayed in the order they were taken, starting at my apartment off Haugh Ave, working west to US 11, a quick swing up to downtown and along Canal St, then back down US 11 and along Memorial Blvd.  In addition to damage and a couple cleaned up streetscapes, I found a relief effort at one of the local churches.
