Point Loma and Cabrillo National Monument

Cabrillo National Monument is located on Point Loma, the southernmost part of a ridgeline that extends south of Ocean Beach, between the ocean and the entrance to San Diego Bay.  The highlight of the monument is the Point Loma Lighthouse.

Unfortunately, it was late in the afternoon when I got there, and the park rangers were closing the area due to the extremely high fire danger plus the wildfires that were already burning east and northeast of the city.  That said, I was given five minutes to zoom through the Monument area to take photos.  The below photos are the result, with several impressive (albeit hazy/smoky) views of the ocean and the city.

These photos are shown in the order they were taken.  All photos were taken by the webmaster on October 23, 2007.
