USS Midway, CV-41 (San Diego, CA)
The USS Midway (CV-41), built at the end of World War 2, is now a museum located in San Diego harbor and is open for tours. Amongst other distinctions, it was the first U.S. carrier to feature a fully armored/metal flight deck (previous carriers had wooden fight decks), and was also the first U.S. aircraft carrier to be stationed overseas in Japan. The following 80 photos are shown in sequence, generally following the self-guided tour route through the carrier. All photos were taken by the webmaster on October 22, 2007.
