Interstate 5 in the San Diego area
Interstate 5 is the primary north-south Interstate in the San Diego area, beginning at the heavily used US/Mexico border crossing at San Ysidro (connecting to Tijuana, Mexico) and extending north through San Diego towards Los Angeles. Between the border and CA 52 (the extent to which I mostly traveled it), I-5 is at least 8 lanes and features numerous auxiliary lanes between adjacent interchanges.
The northbound photos show a couple photos near the border and I-805, then pick up again near CA 15 and north to I-8. The southbound photos show a few photos just south of CA 15, then again from south of CA 75 to the border. All photos were taken by the webmaster in October, 2007. The haziness in most of the southbound photos was the result of smoke from the Harris fire, which affected a large area in far southern San Diego County and east of I-5.
