Benton, CA to Lathrop, CA

Suggested Changes:  Reroute US 6 westward along CA 120 from Benton, CA to I-5 at Lathrop, CA.  Existing US 6 between US 395 at Bishop, CA and Benton could become a California state route of whatever choosing.

Rationale:  For some odd reason, I've always been a little annoyed with the way US 6 takes an almost due north-south drop starting at Benton.  This was even more pronounced back when the route ended at Los Angeles, but is still very noticeable today.  This realignment would make the route much more east-west (as even US routes should be) across California.  Plus, the proposed rerouting along CA 120 is a major route across the Sierra Nevada mountains.
